Understanding the Data Structure of Word List within the software program.

It is important to understand the word list storage structure of this software. This software maintain a local database file of unlimited (means huge amount) word storage capacity. You can add, edit or delete any word you want. Every word has following fields : Parts of Speech, Example Sentence, Ignored (Yes/No ?), Favorite (Yes/No ?) and Learned (Yes/No ?).

All fields are self explanatory except the fields "Learned, Favorite, Ignored". It is easier to organize the word list if you can tag the words which you already learned, right ? So, once you tagged the words as learned, you can choose to memorize new words which are not learned and you can attend practice test with words that are not learned yet. In order to facilitate this idea, we have a field named "learned" for each word.

Within the list of the words, you may choose to tag some of the words as favorite which you consider more important to remember. By checking the appropriate check box you can set the field for the word as Favorite.

There may be some words which you don't feel important to remember or learn but you dont want to delete from the list. You can set the tag "Ignored" for those words. Setting ignored will allow you not to appear those words in Memorizer session or practice test questions.

So once you understood the data structure of this vocabulary builder software, you are ready to enjoy the features of this powerful memorizer program.

Now, what you can do:

Once you have understood the idea about the internal data structure of the Word list database you can do following tasks:
  1. Start memorizing words
  2. Attend practice tests to judge your skills.
  3. Update the Word List database with your own comfortable meanings and example sentences.

Memorizing Words:

Ok, So if you choose to start memorizing words then you have options to customize the query for retrieving a set of words from the local word list database. Once you customize the query using the user interface options you can click the Play button to start audio recitation. Once the play button is clicked, a visual character named "genie" will appear and start reciting the word along with its meaning and example sentence, then it will advance to next word and so on up to the total number of words selected by the query. You can override the position anytime by clicking the navigator buttons. You can add, edit or delete any word from the memorizer window but you should remember to click the SAVE button to update the database.

Attending Practice Tests:

You may choose this option either first time using this software or anytime after a memorizing session. This section is very straight forward and self explanatory. Once you understood the data structure and query optimization settings in Memorizer Window, you can customize the questions set in the same way you customized retrieving word set in Memorizer window.

In addition to Question Query Configuration, you can apply condition to the practice test like "Exam expires in XX minutes.", "Each question expires in XX seconds", "Negative Mark for wrong answers (Yes/No ?) etc. All configurations are very easy, straight forward and self explanatory.

After you have done with tests, you can view your test result in chronological manner.

Also, you can track your progress of learning / test performance by the graphical representation of this program as shown here:

Update the Word List database with your own comfortable meanings and example sentences.

Finally you may want to update the local word database (dictionary) with your own easier word meanings and example sentences. In order to do that, just click the ToolStrip Item named "Search and Update database". You will be taken to a screen shown in the first screen shot.

Ok, now if you want to change the meaning of the word ABATE (because you found the meaning is harder for you to remember), you can simple edit the gridboxes and finally click the SAVE button. In order to search a better or easier meanings or example sentences you can take the help of our embedded browser pointing to online dictionary. Just select the Row for the word ABATE and then click the button "Search Selected Word Online". Then the word ABATE will be searched in online dictionary. Please follow the following Flash Video Demo for understanding this feature in the most convenient way.

Interaction between MS Excel

Do you like to use MS Excel to organize your Word dictionary and use that dictionary with this program ? You can do that too. It is very easy to import your existing word list to the dictionary database of this program. Before you do that, you must make sure that your Excel file follow a pattern shown in the following screenshot. This screen shot also shows how to import your Excel file into the program dictionary database.

Guess what, you can export your dictionary database from this program to MS Excel too.

Once you have done that, you will get an MS Excel file same like the one shown in the previous screenshot where Import from Excel procedure is shown.
